Upgrade kit for legacy medical CRT display systemsAs LCD technology matures, the advantages of flat panel imaging become available for the most demanding medical viewing applications. In order to bring innovative LCD technology to existing CRT-based medical display systems, Barco developed a plug and play upgrade solution for its MEDIS® legacy CRT systems. Barco’s upgrade kit combines 2 MegaPixel PIN-compatible LCD displays, a MEDICAL® Pro QA management software update and a user-friendly upgrade wizard into a high-performance turnkey solution, fully compatible with the existing analog display controller. The plug and play kit allows users to upgrade their legacy systems without having to open their PC system. User-friendly plug and play upgrade Barco’s MEDIS® upgrade kit combines all benefits of flat panel technology (compactness, energy efficiency, long life cycle and low cost of ownership) with the full compatibility of a true plug and play replacement solution. The kit features Barco’s 2MP highperformance grayscale LCD displays. Main features and benefits 2 MegaPixel LCD displays Barco’s MFGD 2320 2 MegaPixel (1600 x 1200 or 1200 x 1600 resolution) displays offer softcopy performance without compromise. The 20.1" displays’ short response time and high contrast ratio (1000:1) make them ideally suited for moving images. |
| MEDICAL® Pro QA management software update The MEDICAL® Pro software update allows users to update Barco’s QA management software for use with the new flat panel displays. MEDICAL® Pro QA software, combined with the I-GUARD® sensor, provides fully automated image Quality Assurance. Without the need for human intervention, MEDICAL® Pro tracks, maintains and logs display viewing performance, automates QA tasks, initiates display system calibration and sets up the most precise DICOM Look-Up-Table calibration using 1024 shades of gray. Easy-to-use upgrade wizard With an easy-to-use upgrade wizard, users can automatically update their analog display controller drivers for optimal compatibility with the existing analog input board. Drivers are available for WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP platforms. Integrated I-GUARD® sensor for continuous diagnostic quality I-GUARD® is Barco’s innovative sensor technology for continuous LCD and backlight stabilization. I-GUARD® eliminates aging effects of the backlight and compensates for LCD instabilities at start-up or when recovering from power save modes. Moreover, the embedded sensor permanently guards the luminance output of the flat panel display which guarantees consistent image quality over time and across displays. In this way I-GUARD® ensures DICOM-consistency without interrupting radiology procedures, as it eliminates the need for on-site QA intervention by radiology technologists or system specialists. PIN compatibility Barco’s unique I-GUARD® technology combined with MEDICAL® Pro QA software, turns the upgrade kit into a fully PIN-compatible display system. Barco’s revolutionary PIN (Product Intelligence) concept ensures worry-free diagnostic reading and image distribution by means of "intelligent" medical display technology. The system’s intelligence creates a smart background, which offers radiologists and administrators professional comfort by bridging the gap between people and technology. | ![]() |
